Welcome to my page. I am an economist studying political economy and development. I am currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at ITAM and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics (on leave) at NYU.

​I believe economic development is difficult to sustain when political institutions remain dominated by economic elites. My research studies how the political arena can become more inclusive and efficient, and how private interests distort the provision of public goods, particularly justice. 

Much of my work relies on original datasets and causal empirical methods to understand how electoral rules shape human capital accumulation and the provision of public goods by elected officials.  

I hold a PhD in Economics from Georgetown University, a  Master’s degree from University College London, and a  Bachelor’s from CIDE. Before entering academia, I held economist positions at the Mexican Electoral Court, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of the Economy, and the World Bank.
